Chris Kicked My Butt

Hi everyone! Hope you’re Tuesday is going well so far :).

This morning, I asked Chris to take me through a workout…and holy crap he kicked.my.butt. As I’ve mentioned before, Chris is a personal trainer and his workouts are always very challenging and awesome.

Today, he had me do a circuit style workout. Man, my heart rate definitely stayed UP and I was a sweaty mess. Here are some pics from the sesh:

The version Chris did

My version

My arms were hardcore shaking during that one haha.

Don’t you just love how sweaty I am?? So sexy, I know ;).

I was dead at the end of this workout. While he finished, I recovered like so:

Haha, I’m gonna be hurting tomorrow, that’s for sure!

When I lift or even do circuit training, I can give myself a pretty good workout, but there is just something about having someone else telling you what to do that makes me work harder. Also, the fact that Chris is a personal trainer really helps. The exercises he gives are usually adaptations of things I normally do or they are completely new to me. It’s a great way to be challenged and feel my body working in different ways!

While at the gym, I noticed a board of quotes and a couple stood out to me:

I LOVE this! I think sometimes people are afraid to push themselves really hard and work up a great sweat. I mean, sweating obviously isn’t always an indicator of how hard you’re working (hello hot summers and humidity) but it can be! If you are lifting and you’re not sweating AT ALL, then it’s probably a sign that you can push yourself a little harder. But, that’s just my opinion.

I think this one could be an exercise motivator. Exercise helps you feel more energized, not the opposite. And well, according to this, energy is the beginning to seeing results. That sounds like a pretty good reason to do it :).

Thanks for the butt-kicking babe :). It felt good to work hard!

Questions:

Have you ever worked with a personal trainer?

Do you find it motivating to have someone tell you what to do during your workout?

  1. Just have to say… your arms look AH-MAZING in those pics!!!! You go girl!! (OK, that’s a totally lame saying, but it’s very appropriate in this instance! 😉 )

  2. You look so great in these pictures! Awesome job rockin that workout 🙂 I have worked with a personal trainer before and yes, my butt was also sufficiently kicked haha

  3. FYI – you are looking very toned tady!! Looking absolutely positively great.

  4. Those are some intense pushups! You dominated that workout!!

  5. You’re so lucky to have him there to give you a good workout! Just looking at those pictures made me feel a little worn out! Way to go – those arms are nice and toned 🙂

  6. how aweome is that!?! those who train together….well they have pain together. haha.

  7. ittybitsofbalance

I’ve never worked with a personal trainer, but would love to! I’d actually eventually like to be one, but thats a whole different story.

p.s. I have those pink Nike tempo shorts too!! Great minds think alike 😉

  8. Nothing like a good recovery spread eagle.

And I agree with a previous commenter, your arms do look amazing! That looks like an awesome workout 🙂

  9. Haha that looks like an awesome workout! I love circuit style weight sessions where you end up on the floor as as shaky mess. I worked with a PT last year when I was just easing my way back into exercise again and those workouts definitely kicked my butt. It was a great source of motivation, too, because they push you a little harder than you would normally push yourself. Although now I’ve kinda become smitten by weight training, so it’s not that hard to find motivation.

  10. First of all, I don’t think I mentioned that I enjoy your new header!
Secondly, I have always wanted to work with a trainer but I’m definitely too poor to afford one. I miss my coaches in high school always pushing me though, it’s definitely motivating. You’re lucky to have a trainer around 😉

  11. Looks like a great workout! You looked like a pro!

  12. You look so fit in those photos. Love your arm definition!!! And I agree – have to push yourself in a workout. Always nice to get help from someone else too. You have me all excited for when I get to train people!

  13. It is definitely nice to have someone making up the workout and pushing you through it! I work at a university and the kinesiology students have to do personal training sessions for faculty and staff as part of class, so I had a free personal trainer during the spring semester and I have never worked so hard or been so fit!!!! It was awesome, so you are incredibly lucky to have a PT in your life 🙂

  14. Damn, girl! Look at those muscles. I feel as if sometimes I push harder than I think I can usually go with a trainer–I’ve only done it a handful of times though!

  15. Your arms look JACKED!! I’m liking what your putting on the table, especially with the form of your recovery!

  16. That looks like a great (and sweaty) workout. Good for you! Thanks for the Lou Holtz quote; I’m stealing it!

  17. Love your quotes! And looks like it was a great workout!!!!!!
