Beer, Blondies, and Bootcamp

Hi friends!

Sorry I was MIA from the blog world yesterday. I was busy soaking up as much time with Chris as possible :). I want to thank everyone who linked up for FLOW on Friday! I’m absolutely loving the workouts you guys shared.

On Thursday, Chris and I went to the Samuel Adams brewery here in Boston and took one of the tours. It was so cool! The brewery was much smaller than I anticipated, but it was really neat to learn about the process, try several types of beer, and go through the tasting process!

The next dessert you make absolutely needs to be these cake batter blondies from Gracie.

These babies are gooey and dense and all around amazing! I followed Gracie’s recipe exactly, and added in the optional white chocolate chips. As much as I love chocolate, this might be my new favorite dessert- they were that good! I’m sorry I don’t have more pics for you…I got way too distracted by their deliciousness hehe. Check out the recipe post for some mouth-watering images!

After getting my stitch out on Friday (yay!!) I went directly to the gym and completed my bootcamp workout from Tina. Man it was challenging! But I loved every minute of it and it was really nice to be working hard again. Courtney wrote a great post about functional training that was inspired by this particular bootcamp workout. If you haven’t yet I highly suggest reading it!

There were two moves in the workout that I’ve done in the past (as in I’m pretty sure I did them in gym class back in elementary school haha) and never thought about doing them for part of a workout. I now know that bear crawls and crab walks are no joke. They are really challenging!

I’m so happy that I signed up for this bootcamp! I know that I’m going to repeatedly be challenged in new ways and I love that :D.

Anyway, Chris left early this morning. It was incredible having him here 5 days and we had such a good time. I’m actually flying home to Columbus early this afternoon. I’m completing some fieldwork there this week and then on Friday I’m flying down to Florida to spend my spring break with Chris! I cannot wait to be in the warm weather and to spend 8 days with my man.

I hope you all have a great Sunday!

My sister made those cake batter blondies a while ago, and they were so good!

  7. We used to play crab soccer in elementary school with crab walks & kicking a HUGE ball…it made me miss it! Looks like a great weekend—and it won’t be too long before next time 🙂

  8. It sounds like such a great day! Of course those blondies look awesome. How exciting you’re coming to Florida! Hopefully the sun comes out because right now it is super rainy.

  9. I love brewery tours! My kids have been on so many they could probably give one at this point. LOL

  10. I’ve seen those blondies on Gracie’s blog before, and I definitely want to make them! They look so good!

Glad you had a nice time with Chris. 🙂 And even happier for you that you get to see him again soon!

  11. What a fun date!

I’ve made some blondies similar to those before…they are SO delicious.

  12. I live outside of STL and went on a brewery tour many years ago (Anheuser Busch) but it’s been a long time. Sounds like you had fun and it was a cute little brewery1

  13. ohhhhmygoodness. THOSE BLONDIES! They are so amazing. I’m usually more of a chocolate/dark chocolate lover but I made them because my boyfriend likes white chocolate type things better and I ended up eating like half of the pan the first night haha. Have fun in Florida! I just got back from Tampa yesterday for my spring break and the weather was beautiful 😀

    • I’m more of a chocolate person too…but man, those blondies give chocolate a run for the money huh? Hope you had a fantastic time in Florida!!

  14. Looks like a fun day! I’ve always wanted to tour a brewery! Mainly for the free samples 😉

  15. Oh my those blondies look good! yikes

Going to read that blog post about functional training, thanks.

  16. So jealous of your Sam Adams brewery tour! I’ve been wanting to go to that for a while now…maybe this summer?!?

Thanks for the shout out on my post, girl! 😉

    • It’s fun! There’s also the Harpoon brewery in town too…I still need to do that one :). You’re welcome! Hope you had a great weekend

  17. So glad you two enjoyed your time together! Sounds like there is plenty more in the future 🙂 Have fun at home and in Florida!

  18. You guys are TOOO cute together!!! Ahhh. Love love ❤

I love bear crawls–so hard, so fun, so scary looking. Hah.

P.s. functional training is THE way to go. That's why machines can only do so much for ya–they are helpful and all…. but you know?!

  19. you and Chris are such a good looking couple 🙂

Your excitement for the bootcamp makes me so happy xoox love u

  20. I’m glad you had a good time with Chris! I can’t imagine how hard it must be to have to leave him again. Boo.

My friend had her wedding in a brewery last year, and while the wedding party was doing photos and stuff, the guests got to have a little brewery tour. It was awesome.

And yep, I totally remember doing the crab walk across my elementary school gym. Good times!

  21. Sorry I’m late, but YEY for getting your stitch out! You must feel so relieved being able to get back into the gym at your own pace.

Did you struggle at all with having to hold back on working out?

  22. Hi Lindsey- that brownie recipe looks a-mazing! I can’t wait to bake up them up….and then immediately hit the gym to do some crab crawls 😉
