My Experience with Disordered Eating – Part 1

Hi everyone!

Are you as shocked as I am that I’m posting a second time in one day??

Well, I filmed a few vlogs earlier about my experience with disordered eating and I honestly just didn’t want to wait to post the first one. I apologize for the length of it. Just be thankful that I split this into 3 different video posts haha. Also, please forgive me for saying “um” and other random words a lot haha. Anyway, I hope you enjoy getting to know a bit more about me!

***Also, I totally realized that I’m backwards on this video haha (you’re getting my mirror image). I taped myself using my macbook video recorder, and apparently it doesn’t automatically flip the videos. Oh well, I’m not going back and recording all of them again… I apologize that you’re getting a backward version of me!

  2. thank you so much for sharing this girl! you’re so REAL and i appreciate that so much. seeing a couple blogs from you now just makes me want to meet you in person even more! 😉

    • You’re welcome! I’m so excited to have you say that I seem real because I would never want to come off as something that I’m not! And I seriously want to meet you in person so badly!! 😀

  3. Woah! Girl I am so glad you posted this! I love the glasses too 🙂

  4. Somewhere out there, you are probably helping someone, so keep it up. The “ums” don’t matter to someone who needs your words.

  5. This was such a great post. Thank you for sharing. I’ve been lurking your blog for a few weeks, so I thought I’d comment and tell you that you are not alone, as I’m sure you are aware, but I also struggled with this and still struggle with the mind game behind it all.

    • Thank you so much! And I’m really happy that you commented! It’s so nice to know that you aren’t alone and that other people can completely relate.

  6. Thanks for being so honest! I can relate so much!!!! ❤

  7. Wow girl, thanks so much for sharing this! You’re so true to yourself and just pure awesome 🙂 Looking forward to the next installment!

    Ps– love the glasses!!

  8. Thank you for sharing. I think it’s so important that everyone talk about these issues. I look forward to the next posts.

  9. I love how real and open you are. Thanks for sharing this! I definitely agree with Alexandra. Love your glasses as well! 🙂

  10. You go girl! I was so happy to see the title of this post. Good for you for coming forward with your story and the struggles that you went through during high school. You never know who’s reading (or watching), and someone could’ve really needed to hear your background to feel better about themselves.

    Love ya girlie!

  11. WOW – you said we were similar and now I see it!! SOOO happy that you’ve come so far! Just amazing!

  12. Thank you for sharing! While I’ve never had an eating disorder, I dealt with stress in high school and part of college by over-exercising. I could relate to what you said when you said that you were shy, and not one of the pretty, popular girls. That’s always how felt. I’m glad that I’m not the only one :).

  13. Great of you to share and sure you’re helping someone out there who needs to hear what you have…and I say “Um” A LOT in my videos lol

  14. I love how real you are! Plus, I LOVE those glasses!

I can relate to much of your feelings–and it reminds me how GLAD I am to be over and done with trying to limit myself. Hallelujah! Good for you for opening up and being so honest–keepin’ it real 🙂

  15. Such a real post – you’re wonderful! Your honesty is refreshing and inspiring! I can totally relate on the competitive nature creeping into all sorts of areas of your life, not just the “healthy” competition. Keep up the video blogs, you’re great!

    • Thank you so much! I’m glad that you can relate on the whole competitive thing because sometimes I think that is such a big part of why we do things but it isn’t something that people always admit to!

  16. What an amazing post! I’m so glad you had the courage to do this, and in a vlog! Your story will certainly help someone out. I definitely can relate, but commend you for putting yourself out there when others are too shy.

  17. You’re the best. Thanks for sharing. I think so many of us can relate to this!

  18. Great Video! Keep up the work ..so many people are looking for or need to hear about others experiences. Good Stuff!

  19. You’re so cute!! Thanks so much for being brave enough to share your story 🙂

  20. I couldn’t get the vlog to work (computer thingy for me)…if you are open to chat , send me an email (?). I’ve only partially been doing that road, but am underweight regardless. You seem fit and healthy and I’m the opposite at this point. If you are open to chat, email…either way, nice blog!

  21. Wow, I’m so glad I finally had the chance to watch this! You really are so brave to share so much, and I think it’s really relateable. I know so many of us have gone through the same type of thing, and it really does have residual effects. I’m looking forward to parts 2 & 3!! XOXO

  22. Hi Lindsay,

Thank you for sharing this and for your sincere honesty! I know it takes a lot of guts to share some thing so personal, especially via vlog, but you rocked it woman. I love learning more about how disordered eating became a part of your life because I can of course relate. It’s always nice to hear other people’s perspectives and experiences

    Can’t wait for part 2, I mean that 🙂

  23. Wow! Thanks for sharing such a powerful story… I think so many girls go through this but don’t even recognize the signs. You are strong and inspiring!

  24. Great post! Thanks for sharing your story! It’s always interesting to hear how some start out on these ED habits. Can’t wait to hear the rest!!!

  25. i’m so glad i watched this. video blogs seem hard to do but you are so articulate! i really enjoyed listening. can’t wait for part 2!

  26. Aw Lindsay, I love you! I love seeing your v-logs and seeing more of your personality! It’s hard to convey through just typing, ya know?

I love your honesty in this. And I thought I have never had disordered eating or exercise activities, but I can relate to this. It is almost addicting when you start to notice a change in yourself (like when you are feeling skinnier, clothes are more loose, etc.) and you want to keep up your habits. Thankfully I have never done anything drastic, but I can see how it would happen.

Excellent video blog, seriously. I feel so awkward on video and a touchy subject would make it even worse, but as previous commenters said, you did rock it! I watched the entire thing, intrigued the whole time, and I am looking forward to your next one 🙂

  27. You are so amazing and I am extremely glad you’re open and able to talk about things, it’s inspiring to so many women (and men!)

  28. Hi Lindsay!

I’m 17 years old and a junior in high school. I’m currently about a month and a half into recovery for anorexia and compulsive exercise. I just wanted to let you know that this a huge inspiration to me and I’m so glad to see that there is a light at the end of this tunnel.

Thank you so much! I’m writing a blog that documents my recovery- check it out if you feel like it. 🙂

    Miranda

    • Hi Miranda! Thank you so much for your comment!! That makes me so happy. I’ll definitely check out your blog :).
